Help with the Haldex.Flash mobile app: how to reach us, and answers to the questions we are asked most.
The quickest way to get help is from inside the app.
Open Settings → Help & Support and send us a report. It attaches the app's diagnostic log, which shows us what happened during a flash far more reliably than a description from memory.

Using the app
What is the adapter?
The OBD adapter plugs into the car's OBD port and pairs with the app over Bluetooth. It is needed for flashing and live tuning. It is physical hardware, sold separately from the app and from licences.
What does a licence cover?
You need one licence for each vehicle you want to flash or tune. When you assign a licence in the app it is bound to that vehicle's VIN permanently: it cannot be moved to another vehicle, and the tune files delivered under it only work on that VIN. Check the VIN shown in the app before you confirm.
A licence can change account, but not by you alone: we or the dealer who sold it can transfer it to another account, and if the account holding it has been deleted, the vehicle's owner can claim it from the app. See the next question.
I bought a car that was already tuned. Can I use the app?
Yes. Register in the app and connect to the car. If the car is licensed under another account the app will say so. If the previous owner has deleted their account, the app offers to claim the licence into yours and you can carry on with no new licence. If their account is still active, ask the dealer who tuned the car to transfer the licence to you, or email info@roadrageperformance.co.uk with the VIN and we will arrange it.
A licence can be refunded within 14 days of purchase only while it is unassigned. The full detail is in our Terms and Conditions.
Can i use the tool more than once?
You can use the tool an unlimited amount of times once your car has a vin licence applied. You can also use the tool to flash other supported cars by purchasing additional vin licences in your user portal.
What should I do if a flash is interrupted?
Leave the ignition on and the adapter plugged in, reopen the app, reconnect and start the flash again. Do not try to drive the car until a flash has completed.
If the flash will not restart or the control unit no longer responds, send a report from Settings → Help & Support straight away so we have the log from the failed attempt, or email info@roadrageperformance.co.uk.
To avoid interruptions, make sure the car battery is healthy (use a charger if in doubt), your phone has enough charge, and the app stays open with the adapter connected until the flash finishes.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to your account screen and choose Delete Account. You can also email info@roadrageperformance.co.uk from the address on your account and we will do it for you.
Deletion cannot be undone, and removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. A licence already assigned to a vehicle stays with that vehicle, where its owner can claim it from the app; unassigned licences are lost, so ask for any refund you are due first. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.
FAQ's
Some coding tools say they have a Haldex tune option, is this the same thing?
Absolutely not, its basically a scam!
These modules have a built in anti drone function that's available via UDS coding on the dealer tool and other diagnostic/coding tools such as VCDS. This functions sole purpose was to reduce vibrations and droning when fitted to different chassis models like the VW Tiguan and Audi S3 etc due to different harmonics.
The function allows the Haldex clutches to engage in a slightly different manner to reduce vibration when pulling away, this coding feature has been known for 12+ years and has no real measurable performance gain.
Various mobile coding tools have been labelling this as a Haldex tune/Upgrade which is simply not the case. This is only a coding change on the original software and not a replacement operating software like our offerings.
Our Haldex tune is a complete operating software replacement that is programmed over the top and replaces the factory software. Not just a coding change with minimal effect.
Is it dangerous for my Haldex system?
Not at all, infact on non 50-50 split cars our tune is actually improving the life of your clutch pack.
When the Haldex is disengaged or sending anything under 50% of its power the clutch pack is being slipped instead of being fully locked. This is the reason the Haldex pump can get blocked up with clutch material on a regular basis, from material that's been worn away during slipping.
Now its perfectly normal for these systems to slip the packs as power transfer is not needed all the time such as off throttle situations. However if under full acceleration anything under full engagement is slip, this is where our tune comes in ensuring a fully locked torque transfer during acceleration and thus less wear to the clutches.
The Haldex Pump itself is also well within its operating tolerance with our tune. The stock pump is also shared with the Audi R8/Lamborghini Huracan platforms which we regularly run 1000+Bhp with no pump failures at all. The pump is under 30% of its full capacity with our tune.
We have also inspected cars with our tune vs stock and found drastically less material stuck in the Haldex pump!
Is the tune just for Drag racing and Track work?
Nope! Think of this upgrade as strictly a handling upgrade, it improves the drive no matter the situation. You do not need to be pushing the car to its limit to find the benefits of the tune. Your cars dynamics will feel just as good on the road as it will the track!
However for those who need to be on the extreme limits of the system our custom tuning option allows full control of the tuning table.
Will this work with my current ECU or TCU tune?
Yes it will! Our software is loaded to the factory Haldex controller only so you can run our tune no matter your current ECU/TCU setup.
I have an RS model with factory 50-50 split, is it worth me buying?
Absolutely! Our software not only improves torque transfer limits but how fast and when to apply torque. Along with revised launch control RS models benefit from our upgrade just as well as non 50-50 cars.
My car is acting front wheel drive, will this tune fix my issue?
Nope, our software is built for fully operational Haldex systems, you should not be experiencing any front wheel spin even in dry launch conditions.
The Haldex system is relatively easy to diagnose but generally if you are having less or no engagement on the rear its down to a blocked/dead pump, failed Haldex module or low Haldex fluid after incorrect servicing.
Flashing our tune will not rectify these issues and in some cases will make it worse, ensure your system works before buying!
Will this help with winter driving?
YES! We sell lots of units in snowy regions where traction is essential. We all know these cars are pretty good in cold conditions but the additional rear torque helps tremendously!
Haldex Spring Upgrades
Our tune does not require an upgrade of the pressure relief valve spring for our standard tuning software.
However if requiring additional rear torque transfer for high power builds or our live tuning feature a spring upgrade is recommended for anything over 60% pump duty. We sell an upgraded pressure relief valve spring HERE on our store
How does live tuning work?
Using our live tuning option allows users to set their own Haldex pump duty table using vehicle speed and throttle position.
This can be done with the engine running for back to back testing.
Simply load up our tool and flash the tune+live tune option. Users can then head over to the custom tuning table within the app and setup their Haldex as they please. (Please note this is for experienced users only, if you are unsure what this table does then please use the normal tune or contact your tuner for help. We can not train people on how to tune this system)
*Full usage instructions are available on your account portal once purchased
Will the Haldex be at a permanent 50-50 Lock?
Nope! Locking the system at full engagement permanently would quickly cause damage to the system and drive-train components. Our tune allows a complete 50-50 power split under full acceleration. If the vehicle is traveling at low speeds or part throttle cruise the software will adapt to its environment based on external factors just how the stock setup does. If the vehicle is specifically for racing a permanent split can be setup using our custom tuning option based on throttle position and vehicle speed.
